A combined team from Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and local police on Tuesday arrested a British man on charges of sexually abusing a child and possessing drugs in the northern province of Chiang Mai.
British national Roger Leslie Pettit, 67, was detained after the DSI’s Bureau of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime and local police raided a condominium in Chiang Mai city.
Police said the initial investigation found 42 metamphetamine tablets, a computer, a camera, sex CDs and sex-related objects including handcuffs, sex toys and aphrodisiacs in the room.
Mr Pettit was charged with child sexual abuse and drug possession.
In addition, the police found a young ethnic minority man, estimated at being between age 18 and 20, leaving the condominium room with nine metamphetamine tablets after conducting a body search.
He was then charged with drugs possession.
Police impounded all items found at the scene as material evidence for further investigation.
